Click2Bid – great results in a tough retail environment

With changing buying habits and individuals being very mindful of spending at this current time, The West Australian produced very pleasing results with their online auction, Click2Bid.

Over 150 vendors contributed $6.5Million worth of product to the 2011 auction. Over 3 consecutive years Click2bid have seen over 47,000 registered bidders purchase over 18,800 items.  This has generated over $9.5 Million of incremental revenue for The West Australian Newspaper.

This unique online event auction harnesses an online social community, for 10 days, offering unbeatable deals on thousands of products and services from over 150 WA retailers. Click2bid creates huge momentum for the local community and provides another marketing solution to local businesses.

“The Click2Bid platform creates new promotional opportunities for the businesses involved over and above their normal marketing communications and the recognition in the market place of Click2Bid has increased significantly year on year”, said Tom Martin, Click2Bid Project Manager at The West Australian.

Consumers were spoilt for choice with the number of deals the West Australian brought onto their Click2bid auction ranging from cars, electronics, solar power products, travel and Coles supermarket vouchers.  David Bignold, Advertising Director at The West Australian, was also very pleased to have their major sponsors QBE Insurance and Vivid Wireless with them again this year.

Australian’s are becoming more loyal to their local brands and are spending approximately 80% of their dollars in their local community.  Nicola Walsh, inXcess Consultant stated “Click2bid 2011 produced great results in a difficult market. It really shows that customers are very loyal to their local community and support local initiatives”.

The West Australian will be donating part proceeds from Click2Bid to Telethon, as they have done in previous years.
